my 106 gti
picked this up a week ago after selling my 207 sport. fancied something abit older and exciting to drive. (pics to follow on shortly)
its 99 model with the half leather and alcantara interior, 105k with 2 owners from new and a folder of reciepts like nothing iv ever seen before. only mods are a straight through exhaust to a standard back box but gives it a nice rasp until i can get a pugsport system and sports cat. (need help with this btw)
already started buying for it so far iv recieved a gmc quickshift kit, kam racing competition gear linkages, kam racing fast road trackday brake disks and pads all round, goodridge braided lines and track day brake fluid, green cotten panel filter, competition exhaust rubber mounts. still waiting for the quickshift kit, powerflex lower engine mount and set of samco coolent hoses.
tonight im going to pick up a brand new unfitted set of 40mm spax psx suspension kit with 28 settings of damping for £180 half price then haha
will chuck some pics up later when i get back this should make the summer interesting... roll on french car show!!
parts im after in future; s2 rallye steelies, r888's, 708's, ashley manifold, oil cooler kit, oil catch tank, buckets & harness's, stripped out, poly carb windows, carbon fibre or fibreglass bonnet and boot, rebuilt gearbox, uprated engine mounts, new drive shafts, fog lights brake vents, morettes, weld in omp 6 point cage, full polybush kit, flocked dash, carbon fibre door cards, lsd, lightened flywheel, uprated clutch, nissens radiator, opm upper & lower strut braces.

Man, you lucky git. I wanted cams and re-map by the summer, but they're renovating my block of flats so I have no where to live at the end of this month ...and moving is costing a lot of money, again...
but still...looking forward to FCS...hopefully we can get enough people to come along and get a stand!

A few more members? A lot more.
I had fallen on my feet here until this happened. Bonus though I've got some viewings in a very nice place called Wilmslow next week, if anyone knows it...it's full of footballers - and there's an Aston Martin garage there.

Re: my 106 gti
well heres a few bits i'll be fitting this weekend that iv gathered mainly from kam racing and 106 owners club.
spax psx adjustable suspension kit, lowers 40mm with 28 settings of damping adjustment. half price bargain brand new got them for 180 quid thanks to ioan spotting them on pistonheads. nice one mate
my new fast road /trackday disks, pads, braided lines and decent brake
green cotten panel filter for now
competition exhaust rubbers
kam racing competition gear linkages
got these and the adjustable omp front upper strut brace for 50 quid not bad as there only 3 points i can use them with the leather fronts still in i hope
strut brace does need painting but for 20 quid im not complaining
and of course a couple of the car itself although it is pretty dirty

Re: my 106 gti
right so we managed to get on the front suspension and rear dampers but the garage me and my mates have always used for torsion bars cant seem to get mine out because well its never been messed with. their gonan grease it up and have another crack later this week any one got any tips?
on a brighter note go the interior stripped, harnesses in on the standard leathers which is great, gear linkages full service, quickshift, brakes the lot all done just waiting on this torsion bar niggle now. car feels completely different although it does need new track rod ends, arb bushes and a few other bushes which will be on their way shortly. pics and stuff on the way soon

Re: my 106 gti
Wish I could spend some more on my car , but I'm moving again... so all my money is spoken for. I *ahem* raced an Astra VXR yesterday, oh how it destroyed me. But the driver was a decent bloke, we got talking after pulling up at the lights and took a look around one anothers cars. The VXR sounded unbelievable, just from a Powerflow exhaust - he was pushing out 265 BHP with an obvious torque boost from the turbo...kind of had my 138 at the wheels beat.

Re: my 106 gti
haha only a small difference really i like it when you get realistic people like that. cant stand the people iv got a 500 bhp evo but i never use that power, so erm why do you have that much? lol its good to talk to people who share the same interests and aren't total cocks loltyphusfever wrote:Wish I could spend some more on my car , but I'm moving again... so all my money is spoken for. There`s loads of scope with the 106. I`m going to go along the same lines as my rallycar to start with and then make any necessary changes to suit.
